This is a multi-disciplinary construction project management course for architects, surveyors, designers and managers in the construction industry. It focuses on effective techniques and procedures for meeting clients' needs, avoiding problems and finding solutions throughout the project lifecycle.
By the end of the course, you will be analysing project situations and putting together complex plans based on your own developed judgement, balancing all the factors involved against one another. We shall be asking you to tackle case studies in which there is no single right answer, but a lot of scope for you to try out your skill in applying your new learning - the theory and tools of project management - to solve problems and get the best result out of an uncertain situation.
The course is structured in two parts, which we call Blocks. Each Block combines classroom time and distance learning. At the end of the two blocks you will have a firm foundation and sufficient depth of knowledge to have confidence in your understanding of project management. The overall length of study is two to three months. For the duration of the course tutors will be available to help and guide you.
The two Blocks cover the syllabus for the APM’s Project Management Qualification (PMQ) and prepares students to for the PMQ exam which leads to Membership of the APM (MAPM). For students who wish to take the PMQ exam we can arrange to hold a further Block, a one day exam preparation and revision session.
The course can be tailored to focus on your organisation’s specific requirements. You will be given access to the online course material, including the Project Management Handbook and Course Workbook.
